Disability & Assessment
Disability & Assessment
JVS’ state-of-the-art Assessment and Disability services offer comprehensive vocational evaluations to individuals with disabilities, veterans, welfare-to-work clients, refugees and immigrants and career professionals.
The program recently added a brand new Assessment Center at the JVS West Hills location. This expansion was funded by an American Recovery and Reinvestment Act grant from the Department of Rehabilitation.
In addition to the assessments and job skills training offered on site, JVS’ Disability and Assessment staff are delivering services in the community--at the JVS WorkSource Centers, the Urban League Business and Career Center on South Avalon Blvd. and the Urban League-West Adams Baldwin Hills WorkSource Center.
A JVS Client Experience
Only 29, John A. has Usher Syndrome, which has caused vision loss and profound deafness. Thanks to the assistive technology in JVS’ Dashew Assessment Center, he was able to undergo a comprehensive vocational evaluation. Said John, “When I had a question or a problem, the staff was right there for me. They helped me believe that I am worth a lot and that I have options."
